Google's glasses in action: Google has shown off a picture taken with its 'Project Glass' techno-glasses - hi-tech glasses that 'layer' computer information over the world
Seperti dikutip detikINET dari news.com.au, Senin (14/5/2012), Google baru saja merilis secara resmi jepretan foto pertama dari kacamata yang sudah terintegrasi kamera built-in tersebut. Foto ini diabadikan sendiri oleh Sebastian Thrun, pimpinan proyek untuk Project Glass ini.
Foto yang diambil oleh Thrun adalah foto putranya sendiri yang masih kecil, dan tengah bergelayutan di kedua lengannya. Thrun ingin menunjukkan bahwa foto tersebut diambil tanpa menggunakan tangan sama sekali.
Sayangnya Google belum mau menjelaskan bagaimana cara kerja dari kacamata berkamera ini. Semua masih coba dirahasiakan Google, termasuk kapan kacamata ini akan tersedia di pasaran -- meski kabarnya bakal dirilis akhir 2012 ini.
Kabarnya, kacamata yang menggunakan OS Android itu bisa melakukan pencarian lewat Google search, GPS tracking, melakukan panggilan telepon, untuk mendengarkan musik, update catatan, termasuk mengambil foto tanpa sekalipun membutuhkan bantuan tangan.
Project Glass ini dibuat oleh tim di laboratorium Google yang dijuluki Google X. "Grup kami dari Google X memulai Project Glass untuk membuat teknologi semacam ini, sesuatu yang membantu Anda mengeksplorasi dan membagi dunia yang Anda lihat," kata Google.

In demonstrations, the glasses are mainly voice-controlled, using voice commands to bring up contacts, send emails and search
The glasses appear to run a variant of the Android operating system, using the same microphone icon and other recognisable parts of Google's mobile OS

The service lets you locate nearby friends in a similar way to Google's current Latitude service
